Advancing Health and Wellness with Cultural Humility in Asian and Asian American Communities

Abstract Submission:

We invite abstract submissions for oral and poster presentations as well as youth roundtable discussions at this joint community-academia conference. The focus of the conference is on community programs and research studies related to Asian and Asian American health including well-being, violence prevention, and health promotion.  Roundtable discussions are available for high school students.

 

We encourage abstract submissions from health providers, researchers, graduate, undergraduate and high school students based in the U.S. and abroad.  Presentations will focus on community and research programs of health topics related to Asians such as mental health, social work, violence prevention and trauma issues, violence prevention in LGBTQ community, health care, cancer education and early detection, substance abuse and addictions, health promotion, lifestyle factors and interventions, chronic disease management, traditional and complementary medicine, advance care planning and end of life care as well as community and academic partnership success stories and challenges.

 

Abstracts should contain the following sections: background including problem statement/ purpose, methods, results, conclusion(s), future recommendation, and at least three(3) learning objectives. Abstract should not exceed 250 words, excluding learning objectives. Please submit your abstract at www.AsiansforHealth.org. Submission deadline is May 22, 2019, 5pm PST. Abstract acceptance announcement will be made by June 12, 2019 through email.

 

Registration:

All attendees, presenters and site visitors are required to register for the conference via www.AsiansforHealth.org. Please see below for registration deadlines.  All students are required to have a valid photo student ID at the time of check-in. The registration fee includes continental breakfast and lunch.

Technical equipment for presenters such as a laptop, projector, and screen will be provided free of charge. Travel and lodging expenses will be the responsibility of the attendees.

*** Site visits to local community organizations are available on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 for an additional $49 USD. Lunch will be provided during the site visits.
